Our next visit was to the ancient town of Vä where a settlement has existed since 100 AD.
The city flourished during the Middle Ages. Its important industries included iron and metal processing. It was also famous for its silver and goldsmiths.
St Mary's Church in Vä was built by Danish King Valdemar the Great in the 11th century.
Vä was a commercial crossroads and survived being pillaged and burned by the Swedes many times before 1600 ad.
This Vä tombstone was erected 16 March 1571.
To protect the residents of Vä from the Swedes, Danish King Christian IV built the nearby fortified city of Kristianstad.
This is the church Anders Rapp's family attended and where he and his wife Hanna Bengtsdotter Werling are buried.
Its size and ornate decor suggest it was built for a large city.
Its ancient architecture is similar to that of Lund's church.
